NEW YORK'S BEST

"The most natural transition in my life so far.” This is how Jade describes the transition from diamontaire to jewelry designer. As a young girl, Jade was ingratiated into the diamond industry during casual visits to her grandfather’s office in New York’s historic diamond district.
“The stones were all different shapes and sizes and from the first time I saw them, I knew these little stones were something magical to me. I would swirl my fingers around the small heap of diamonds and would look at each one until I found the one that I wanted. Each time, my grandfather would say ‘you picked the best stone in the whole lot…you’re a natural!’” He would then present her with a small diamond in a glass box with a blue cushion. These fond childhood memories left an indelible mark and drew Jade back to the family business during college. While studying in NYU, she would spend her early morning hours sitting in the factory, learning the techniques of cleaving and cutting diamonds by hand; making the beginning of her career in the male-dominated industry where her family worked for the last six generations.
Jade’s passion, however, extended beyond the cutting, polishing and selling diamonds that characterizes her family’s traditional background. Even as a young girl, her zeal for creating beautiful things was evident; she produced her designs of buttons, beads and crystals prompting her classmates to designate her ‘a future designer’. Throughout the years, her affection for designing grew and she graduated from beads and buttons to diamonds a precious metals. Launched when she was only 24, her first jewelry collection emulated the style of twentieth century artist, Piet Mondrian.
Today, Jade Trau features an exquisite array of fine diamond jewelry with influences from the twentieth century (primarily the 1920s) along with a diverse and spirited landscape of New York. This stimulating collection features an eclectic combination of modern linear silhouettes and flirtatious vintage designs to appeal to all women.
