The Story Teller -
Some designers want their jewelry to make a statement; designer Liz Law has loftier ambitions, she wants hers to tell a story. Any avid reader will tell you, a really good story needs certain key elements to become a classic.
The Character -
Liz Law has a strong appreciation of history, an appreciation which is conveyed through her art. The Virginia native undertook jewelry design as creative outlet while she was a student of European History. Following her graduation, Law migrated west to Southern California, where the sunny days and casual atmosphere enticed her to become a permanent fixture. As her skill improved and her collections increased, she evolved her hobby into a thriving business. Her jewelry has since been featured on television and in printed publications.
The Plot -
Law’s mission is to create beautiful and unique forms of expression. She considers her jewelry to be wearable art; each piece conveys its own theme and personality. Her particular style of design ensures that each piece develops organically, with a natural flow that gives her work a life independent of its creator. While some designers rely on a signature style, Law’s thumbprint is seen in the versatility of her collections.
The Theme -
Why settle for one motif? Law has built up an impressive array of designs. Numerous collections for many occasions; many styles for many different tastes.
If a customer is looking for something with a breezy, crisp summer feel, than the Thread collection is the perfect place to start. Long delicate chains accented with semi-precious stones, and textured sterling silver shapes. A resourceful jeweler, Law’s designs are versatile. The span of the pieces means that they can be worn as one lengthy chain, or looped around the neck several times for a sophisticated layered look.
Her aptly named “Deja Vu” collection is a combination of new and vintage materials. Lace appliqué, silk chain clasps, and Lucite accent vintage centerpieces; brooches, gold filigree circles and brass chains. The vintage goods used are handpicked and make each unique. The result is dramatic and beautiful.
Maybe subtle isn’t your thing? For the drama mamas who love attention, the Adorned collection is the right address. Her Candy Rain necklace features chunky chains dramatically embellished by Lucite pendants and brass plated droplets hung from delicate gunmetal chains. The Jungle Fever necklace is leather lined brass chain, offset by carved bone feathers, silver-toned and gunmetal tassels. Not for the faint of heart.
The Dénouement -
Styles may come and go with the change of the seasons and with them go the designers who inspire millions to adhere to their prescribed tastes and discretions. The fashion world can be a cruel place where only the most resourceful and thick skinned survive. Liz Law and her multitude of designs tell not one story, but several. We lay high odds on this one sticking it out for the long haul.
