This collegiate fashion trend began back in the 50’s dominated among Ivy League schools and in New York City, but this redux is for everyone. Think back to your college days where polo t-shirts ruled the hallways, athletes made you swoon, and you assumed everyone wearing a collared shirt and ironed slacks were part of the “it” crowd. Well, now is your chance to rule this fashion fix! It’s the old-school preppy style, and I’m telling you you’re never too cool for school flaunting it.

Preppy Redux
by: Aubrey Swanson
So what can you expect from this preppy redux? Think pastels meet stripes. Bow ties meet argyle. Collars meet sweaters. Boat shoes meet khakis. It’s the all-American look. I don’t know about you, but when I see a guy wearing a pink button-up, navy sport coat, plaid shorts, and boat shoes – I swoon. Equally so, I have to admire those ladies rocking the hunter green monogrammed sweater with a pleated checkered skirt, conservative heels, and their mother’s pearls. Who wouldn’t want to flaunt it? It immediately makes you think of summer days filled with polo, rugby, and horse races – three of my favorite things. It’s the perfect look for any occasion too! I’m talking class, work, casual nights out, celebrations, lounging – you name it.
So how do you piece together your preppy perfected look? Tell us! And be sure to check out our preppy redux style guide for your go-to jewelry and accessories.
