Justin Giunta of Subversive Jewelry and ceramic artist Mae Mougin, have been in creative contact for more than ten years. Justin’s jewelry and painting studio is located in Manhattan’s midtown; Mae Mougin's studio is in the pastoral area of New York State called Southampton. However, their creative powers are not as diverse as their locations. Both are absolute masters in their fields. Mae works with porcelain and Justin makes jewelry but their tools are the same: intuitive hearts and understanding hands.
Mae Mougin forms her platters, plates, bowls and objects d’art out of porcelain. She presses, slaps and works her material into a unique element of design – form and fashion uniting. Mae’s signature of paddle and finger tip marks is patterned along the edges of her ceramic vessels. Her artistic statement is clear and distinct.
Justin Giunta is not a newcomer to the pages of Gallery Atlantic. We have been following his achievements for some time now. His jewelry brand, Subversive Jewelry, has grown in fame and placement. Known for his more-is-more look, Justin’s jewelry items and trendy couture have been seen on the likes of Michelle Monaghan, Queen Noor of Jordan, Courtney Love and Sting.
Justin Giunta and Mae Mougin recently announced a joint jewelry/ceramic project. The news is fresh and we have not yet seen the results of their crafting but we can only assume one thing: It will be a Ceramic Bling!
